The mission of the Department of 犯罪学与刑事司法 (CCJ) is to conduct and disseminate the findings of basic and applied 研究 on crime and justice, to offer excellent teaching at the 本科, 主, and 博士 levels, and to provide service to the campus, profession and community. This mission is realized via the 研究, teaching, and service of the CCJ Department’s 教师, staff, and students.

Departmental 教师 members 发布 the results of their 研究 in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals and generate external funding from local, state and national government agencies and private foundations. CCJ系的教学活动不仅包括传统的深度课程作业，还包括密集的研究训练，特别是在博士水平。 CCJ的教职员工积极参与许多地方、州、国家和国际的服务活动，在美国犯罪学学会等组织任职，或在主要的犯罪学和社会学期刊上担任编辑职务。
